Title: Cancer Stem Cell Model Developed From iPS Cells

Abstract: We have successfully developed a model of cancer stem cells from mouse iPS cells. This model including the process of development will be a great help to develop bona fide anti-cancer drugs.
Outlines/Features of Research
The induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) as well as embryonic stem cells are considered to be induced into progenitor cells, which differentiate into various normal phenotypes depending on the normal niche. We hypothesized that cancer stem cells could be derived from iPSCs in the conditioned culture medium of cancer cell lines, which might be a mimic of carcinoma microenvironment.
Expected Applications
Drug discovery
Evolution of Carcinogens
